eBooks

as I type this, I am sitting in a gym at the Ft. Wayne campus, listening to a presentation about eBooks and such.  We were just asked how many of us teach a course using eBooks, and I raised my hand because we are reading Red Badge in another format than the anthology and Gatsby will be the same way.

My question....do you feel comfortable reading a digital form of a book, or do you like to feel the pages turn of a book you are holding in your hand?  Thmk about it.  Will libraries in small towns fade away because everyone has a Kindle?

  1. I have to say that I prefer to hold an actual book in my hands and turn the pages. Last semester all of my online classes had eBooks besides ENGL 222 and I hated it. I have one class this semester that is using an online book, and it is very frustrating especially when the illustrations do not load properly. I have a nook that my husband got me one Christmas, and I have a few books that I have downloaded on it, but I do not use it to read that often. I like to know where I am in a book page wise, and while you can figure that out by the page numbers electronically, it is not the same as looking at the amount of pages you have read and seeing how many you have left.
